In a game the had a bit of bite down to the last whistle, the Philadelphia Union defeated Indy Eleven on penalty kicks Wednesday night to advance to the US Open Cup Round of 16 for the first time since 2018. An early goal from Ale Bedoya and a number of timely saves from young goalkeeper Andrew Rick were the deciding factors in the midweek cup clash.

After the Philadelphia Union’s 2nd consecutive clean sheet and 3-0 victory over DC United in Matchday 10, Centerback Jakob Glesnes and Goalkeeper Andre Blake have been named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday. Jakob Glesnes, who played a pivotal role on both sides of the ball, opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 15th minute after placing a right-footed volley in the top corner of the net on Saturday afternoon, which was also nominated for Goal of the Matchday.
