1 Introduction Antenatal glucocorticoids reduce neonatal respiratory morbidity when given prior to pre-term birth and are also associated with a reduced risk of neonatal death, intraventricular haemorrhage, necrotising enterocolitis, and systemic infections in the first 48 h post-delivery [1]. A single course of antenatal glucocorticoids is recommended within 48 h of anticipated birth for all women before 34 + 6 weeks gestation [2, 3].
