Anthony Albanese has addressed his supporters in Sydney. “Serving as your Prime Minister is the greatest honour of my life. And it is with a deep sense of humility and a profound sense of responsibility that the first thing I do tonight is to say thank you to the people of Australia for the chance to continue to serve,” Mr Albanese said in his victory speech.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after he allegedly tried to board a commercial flight in Melbourne while armed with a gun. The incident unfolded at Avalon Airport - Melbourne’s secondary airport which is used mainly for domestic Jetstar flights - at about 2.20pm on Thursday. Police were called to the airport after reports a 17-year-old had allegedly entered the commercial flight with a firearm.
