Last year, Indiana enacted a law, Senate Enrolled Act 202, with the stated intention of promoting viewpoint diversity and open inquiry on college campuses. Now the constitutionality of that new law and the policies Indiana University adopted to implement it have been challenged in federal court. Institutions of higher education cannot properly fulfill their academic missions without prioritizing viewpoint diversity and open inquiry.

Instead, this dread stems from the prospect of being “canceled.”The term canceled has entered the mainstream lexicon, at least online, as part of a cluster of terms describing contemporary progressive ideology as well as its enforcement against dissenting voices.

Student loan payments are set to resume Oct. 1, after borrowers had a three-year break due to COVID-19. And while the Supreme Court spiked President Joe Biden’s grand gesture of student loan forgiveness, that hasn’t deterred the administration from trying to help student loan borrowers at the expense of all taxpayers. Its latest plan to “save” borrowers from repaying their loans comes in the form of an income-driven repayment program called Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE).
