Powys based home care company, Silver Assist, recently took on a 16-mile walk to raise awareness and money for charity Dementia Matters in Powys (DMiP). 11 determined walkers set off on Saturday, June 7, from Llangattock and walked to Brecon Canal Basin. The walk has currently raised £1,400 for Dementia Matters in Powys, who sadly, like many small charities, have been struggling to secure the funding needed to continue to provide valuable services.

(Brecon Mountain Rescue Team)On Saturday, June 14, Brecon Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Cwm Gwdi by Dyfed-Powys Police to assist an individual who had fallen and hit their head. Also in the newsBrecon Mountain Rescue Team were assisted by Welsh Ambulance Service Trust and Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, and due to the nature of the call, Wales Air Ambulance were called. After being treated by the team doctor, the casualty was then transferred to hospital by Air Ambulance.
