Black smoke has been seen billowing from fires at a suspected illegal dumping ground that is under investigation. Two blazes were seen today at Raspberry Hill Park Farm in Iwade near Sittingbourne. The site is currently under scrutiny from Kent County Council (KCC), Swale council, the Environment Agency (EA), and police. A joint probe was launched in May last year. Villagers raised their concerns this morning after black smoke was seen coming from the alleged tip at around 11am.

A group of travellers has pitched up at the country park after moving on from another public site less than a mile away. The group of around 30 vehicles parked up on the field at the Holy Trinity Church end of Milton Creek Country Park in Sittingbourne around 6pm yesterday (June 1). They have moved on from nearby Milton Regis Recreation Ground, where they had been since Monday, May 26. It was the second time travellers had visited that park in a month.
