A $30 million cybersecurity complex is being built at the University of South Carolina Aiken for the National Guard. The facility will house the South Carolina Army National Guard’s Cyber Battalion and foster collaboration with USCA, the Savannah River National Laboratory, and industry professionals. The center will focus on monitoring cyber threats and training military and civilian personnel. This project complements a recently established Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative on the USCA campus.

A former sergeant with the Richmond County Marshal's Office has been charged with felony theft. After a comprehensive review begun May 21, "the Marshal’s Office determined that Sgt. Brown violated departmental policies and subsequently terminated her employment." the RCMO said in a statement released Wednesday. The unspecified allegations were considered severe enough to refer to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.

German pet food additive manufacturer Mikro-Technik GmbH & Co. KG is investing $3.2 million to establish its first North American facility in McCormick County, South Carolina. Mikro-Technik refines plant-based cellulose fiber into a binding agent primarily used in dry pet food. Operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025. A German manufacturer of pet-food additives has chosen the Augusta area to establish operations in North America.
