    Drivers on Highway 401 in Cambridge experienced delays as fire crews had to clean up after a garbage truck caught fire. Around 12 p.m., a truck and its trailer caught fire, shutting down multiple lanes on the highway. Cambridge Fire Department platoon chief, Andy Pownall said the the truck’s trailer full of garbage caught fire after the brakes overheated. “The fire was knocked down quickly but as it was compacted and it was difficult to completely extinguish the fire,” said Pownall in an email.

Pickleplex Social Club is expanding throughout southern Ontario with it’s location in Waterloo Region landing at 75 Dundas St. N. After gaining popularity at the St. Jacob’s Farmers Market, A Portuguesa Bakery expanded to New Hamburg and , and will soon be opening a new location in the heart of downtown Kitchener. The bakery known for its Portuguese pastries and other baked goods is set to open its new location next week, a dream long in the works for owners Mario and Maria De Sousa.
