OAKMONT, Pennsylvania. (WCMH) — As the U.S. Open moves to the weekend, putting together a round in the 60s is becoming more and more challenging. Jason Day is one of the few who did it at the end of play Friday at Oakmont Country Club. Only 6 players were under par Friday who completed all eighteen holes, plus Chris Gotterup was -1 through seventeen holes when play was called for the day. Day is in a tie for 12th, only six strokes off the lead held by Sam Burns at -3.

OAKMONT, Pa. (WCMH) — Par is a great score around Oakmont Country Club at the 125th U.S. Open, but former Ohio State golfer Maxwell Moldovan had other ideas on the opening hole. Moldovan holed out from 189 yards to eagle the par four first and quickly move to -2. He could not have asked for a better start in his fourth U.S. Open. Moldovan went on to shoot a 76, and he said afterward he felt like he played better than his score, but one bad swing can cost you multiple strokes.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Crew continues its tradition of developing players for the top-tier team. Crew Academy product Tristan Brown signed a contract with the club through 2028, with options for 2029 and 2030. At 17 years old, he is the second-youngest player to sign a Homegrown Player contract with Columbus. “I definitely wouldn’t have imagined it would be so quick but I’m definitely very blessed to have it be this way,” Brown said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Track and Field State Tournament returned to Ohio State this weekend with a highly successful meet for central Ohio schools. The two-day OHSAA track and field championships wrapped up Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The 117-year-old tradition boasted exciting results for many high schools in central Ohio. In Division I, Olentangy’s C.J. Sanna, who has committed to play football at Ohio State, won discus — and it wasn’t close.
