Atlanta United announced today that it has signed left back Academy graduate Dominik Chong-Qui to a homegrown contract that will allow him to be placed on the first team roster. In a corresponding move, midfielder Adyn Torres will be loaned for the remainder of the season to Atlanta United 2. Chong Qui had previously signed a contract that would make him a Homegrown Player starting January 1, 2026, but his play sped up Atlanta’s timeline for him to enter the fold. Atlanta United has won one once in its first five games of the 2025 campaign, so the knives are understandably out. Someone must bear the burden of responsibility for the slow start. In this post we’re going to evaluate some of the critiques, and why, in my opinion, it’s only a matter of time before he and the team start finding more success.
