    The Minnesota Wild are signing defenseman Jake Middleton to a four-year, $17.4 million contract extension ($4.35 million AAV), league sources say. Middleton, 28, has one year remaining on his current three-year contract at a $2.45 million AAV. Monday was the first day Middleton was eligible for an extended deal, so this locks him up for the next five years. The new contract will carry a limited no-trade clause, according to league sources.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Wild filled out the rest of their coaching staff Monday, hiring long-time NHL coach Jack Capuano as an assistant. Capuano, 57, replaces Darby Hendrickson, who was let go May 31 after 14 years behind the Minnesota bench. Hendrickson has since joined former Wild teammate and fellow assistant coach Andrew Brunette behind Nashville 's bench. Capuano will join head coach John Hynes' staff, which also includes Pat Dwyer, Jason King and goalie coach Frederic Chabot.
