Up to 32 legacy Glasgow Subway could be saved from the scrapyard due to the efforts of a dedicated train enthusiast and a MSP LAST-MINUTE deals brokered by an MSP and a dedicated train enthusiast may save some of the Glasgow Subway's old cars from the scrapyard. The fleet is set to be scrapped at the end of August, and only one of the 33 cars have been saved so far, going to the Riverside Transport Museum.

A motion submitted for next Thursday’s Student Council meeting calling for the resignation of Sir Peter Mathieson as the University of Edinburgh’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor. If approved for debate and passed, it will call on the Students’ Association to demand his resignation from his roles, effective by July of next year. Further, it will call for his university-provided accommodation, which he pays no rent or utility bills on, to be turned in to a student-facing space.

Four protesters were arrested on Wednesday along the procession route for King Charles’ Scottish coronation. Two of those arrested were members of anti-monarchy group No More Royals, while the other two were members of climate activism group This is Rigged. As of Wednesday evening, the two This Is Rigged protesters remained in custody, while the No More Royals protesters were released with recorded police warnings.

Family, friends and members of the public have paid tribute to Strathclyde University student Suleman Dawood, age 19, who lost his life on the Titan submarine. The first-year Business student was on the vessel with his father Shahzada, 48, and three other people when it disappeared on Monday. Authorities said on Thursday that all occupants of the submarine had lost their lives, after debris was found on the ocean floor.

Strathclyde University student Suleman Dawood, age 19, is thought to have been killed aboard the lost submarine Titan. This evening, the United States Coast Guard said a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) found debris on the sea floor consistent with a decompression of the submarine. Dawood, a Business undergraduate, was on board the vessel with his father and three other people when it disappeared on Monday.

Two students at the University of Nottingham were killed in the attack today in the city’s centre. In a public statement this afternoon, the university said: “It is with great sadness that we confirm the sudden and unexpected death of two of our students following a major incident in Nottingham city centre overnight.
