Salisbury High School graduate Jalon Walker will get a shot in the NFL. Walker, a linebacker from the University of Georgia, was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the 15th overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday. Walker stands at 6-foot-1 and 245 pounds. As a junior at Georgia last season, Walker led the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and recorded 6.5 sacks, which was tied for the team's best.

Reidsville was the wire-to-wire No. 1 team in HighSchoolOT's statewide high school boys basketball statewide rankings for the 2024-25 season. The Rams have won 60 straight games and back-to-back N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A championships. They were No. 2 in last year's final rankings. This marks the first time Reidsville has ended the year No. 1 in a HighSchoolOT ranking in any sport.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association Board of Directors is meeting on Monday to discuss the upcoming realignment and hear several final appeals. Schools have the chance to appeal their placement in the final plan submitted by the NCHSAA Realignment Committee last month. This will be the final chance for schools to appeal where they landed in realignment. Before the realignment plan can go into effect, the board must vote on and approve the plan.

In this boys basketball playoff preview, we handed out bracket superlatives, gave four favorites and one dark horse for each region, and even made championship predictions. We also listed the top 10 players in each bracket half. Many of these players are candidates for our all-state teams that are released a few weeks after the regular season.

Below are the scores and matchups from the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association's postseason boys and girls basketball playoffs. The NCISAA is the largest league of private schools in North Carolina. Playoff brackets for the NCISAA are determined by a committee made up of its Board of Advisors and athletic directors and coaches from a variety of classifications and divisions. The championships are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22.
