Ace political analysts are crediting a wrathful and enraged electorate for Donald Trump’s election as president. I can see that. So, I’m greatly puzzled by how most Illinois voters still calmly accept the election and re-election of the same inept, greedy and corrupt politicians who are responsible for the state’s sorry state. A few voters finally escaped the Democratic machine’s planation and voted not how the Blue State minions told them. But not enough to make a difference. More on that below.

Opps. A comparison isn’t possible because Kamala Harris hasn’t held a traditional press conference since being handed the Democratic nomination for president. Moreover, she isn’t likely to hold any before election day, April 5. No president in modern America has spit in the public’s eye like this. That’s outrageous, but my point here is even worse: The media’s condemnable passivity in the face of this spit in their eyes.

“The past is prologue,” — William ShakespeareIf Kamala Harris’ record in the Senate is any indication, she could end up taking more White House naps than the King of Snooze, Joe Biden. For the record I turn to GovTrack.us, a fact-based, non-partisan record of congress persons in the Senate and House of Representatives. Harris severed in the Senate from 2017 to 2021; I’ve selected her 2020 Report Card at random. To be fair I’ve included her good stuff along with her pathetic record.

“Happy Days Are Here Again,” was Franklin Roosevelt’’s 1932 theme song. It was a deceptive choice because Americans—the Greatest Generation— faced the Great Depression and World War II. Nonetheless, the song was played at Democratic National Conventions for years, actually decades. I heard it growing up in the 1940s and 1950s. It was like a trademark, long after World War II. And yet… I didn’t hear it at the 2024 DNC in Chicago this year.

Now that the 2024 Democratic Convention will fade into memory, I want to draw attention to a previous one, also held in Chicago. No, not the 1968 one that has received all the attention, but the one in 1996. I bring this up because I wrote an open letter in the Chicago Sun-Times to convention delegates about why I stopped voting for Democrats. I didn’t leave them, they left me by betraying just about everything they stood for when I started voting in 1964.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was responding to just about everyone who was puzzled by what surprises might be hidden in the massive Affordable Care Act, AKA Obamacare:“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”It’s perhaps the most honest thing ever uttered by a politician.
