ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Multiple fires were seen burning Tuesday morning in Mountain View’s Davis Park as the city began clearing out homeless camps in the area. The fires were reported to be intentionally set by residents in the camps, according to a spokesperson with the Anchorage Police Department. The first blaze was observed by a reporter at the scene around 11:20 a.m., with more popping up later.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Federal officials confirmed that two people were killed in a helicopter crash Wednesday on Alaska’s North Slope. The helicopter was part of a missing aircraft search by North Slope Borough search teams about 28 miles west of Deadhorse, according to National Transportation and Safety Board Alaska Chief Clint Johnson. Details were scant as of the time of publication, but Johnson said the crash appears to have occurred around late morning.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Poor weather has delayed a search effort Tuesday for a climber who fell while descending Alaska’s tallest mountain. Officials with Denali National Park and Preserve say the 41-year-old man fell while ski mountaineering unroped Monday afternoon with two others on Mt. McKinley. Park officials said search efforts are focusing on the mountain’s West Buttress but high winds and snow have hampered their efforts. The search is currently in a hold, according to the park.
