ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Nine days after making an emergency landing in St. Paul due to engine issues, two American F-16 fighter jets based in South Korea have returned to the skies. Video captured by a viewer on the ground Wednesday showed both jets taking off.

HOMER, Alaska (KTUU) - Nearly 10 months after a family of four from Texas went missing in the waters of Kachemak Bay, a search has turned up human remains in the boat on the bottom of the bay. In an update posted Wednesday, Alaska State Troopers said that three private companies banded together to search the bay earlier this month and located the 28-foot aluminum boat that capsized last August about 16 miles west of the Homer Spit.

HOMER, Alaska (KTUU) - The driver of a vehicle was killed after it crashed into the Anchor River near Homer early Tuesday morning, state troopers say. The driver, who has not yet been identified pending next of kin notification, was found dead inside the truck, which came to rest in the water at mile 161 of the Sterling Highway, about 10 miles north of Homer.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Two Alaska middle-schoolers saw their run come to an end Tuesday night at the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee. After advancing through the first two rounds, Homer middle schooler Majo Hernandez-Zamora and Fairbanks middle schooler Elden Wier failed to advance past the third round, a written test, at the competition held in National Harbor, Maryland.

Homer middle schooler Majo Hernandez-Zamora and Fairbanks middle schooler Elden Wier are representing Alaska at the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. They are two of over 200 youth spellers from around the United States and other U.S. territories who are gathering in National Harbor, Maryland, this week to determine who is the best speller.
