    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A week after the city abated a large homeless camp in Mountain View’s Davis Park, the change has been dramatic. Crews report they’ve removed more than 58 tons of garbage and debris from the park and nearly 160 tons from the snow dump across the street and the work is still ongoing. Mayor Susanne LaFrance was among those touring the park on Wednesday while taking questions from reporters.

    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Anchorage Assembly members will hear public testimony Tuesday night on a proposed ordinance that would add criminal penalties for people who sleep or camp in public areas including parks, trails and sidewalks. Three Assembly members are sponsoring the ordinance including South Anchorage Assembly member Keith McCormick, and Eagle River Assembly members Jared Goecker and Scott Myers.

    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Alaskans have a new option when it comes to verifying their identity, instead of pulling out a driver’s license, they can now show a mobile ID on their phone. Lauren Whiteside, Division Operations Manager for the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles, said the new IDs, called mobile credentials, can help keep personal information secure because people can choose how much information they want to share given the circumstances.

    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Fish and Game has received numerous reports in recent weeks of a brown bear sow with two yearling cubs breaking into chicken coops on the Anchorage Hillside. Ring camera video shows the large bear violently shaking a coop while the chickens inside shriek, before the homeowner yells and scares the three bears away. Lynden Grothe says the same bears visited her Hillside home two weeks ago and killed six chickens.
