PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Zoo has announced the sudden death of a beloved gorilla. Harry the western lowland gorilla, a longtime member of the zoo, died on Tuesday at the age of 33. Zoo staff said he died from a sudden cardiac event. He had been receiving treatment for cardiac disease since 2022. The Zoo had been working with the Great Ape Project, a group of specialists who treat heart disease since then.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Riverhounds have announced a new game-changing partnership for children in the area. The Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania will work with the Riverhounds Soccer Club and Pittsburgh Soccer in the Community to create an enhanced soccer program for youth in the region. Organizers want to create a space for young players to enjoy soccer and grow through it.

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — The cows have come home at a Beaver County dairy farm that was heavily damaged by a major fire over a year ago. Brunton’s Dairy Farm was devastated by flames in October 2023. The fire marshal said the fire was caused by an electrical mishap. Since then, the Brunton family has worked diligently to reopen.

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — A man who has been wanted for the past five months was arrested in McKees Rocks. The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office said Justin Collins, 27, failed to appear for a status conference for felony gun charges on Aug. 30, 2024. Detectives had been looking for him since then. On Thursday, police learned Collins was staying at a house on Munson Avenue in McKees Rocks. Detectives went to the house at 8:30 a.m. and were greeted by Collins’s mother and sister.
