SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — A new bill, passed by the Illinois House on Tuesday, would prevent landlords from charging new tenants a “move in” fee. House Bill 3564 amends the Landlords and Tenants Act to prevent landlords from charging “for the processing, reviewing, or accepting of an application, or demand any other payment, fee, or charge before or at the beginning of the tenancy.”Language in the bill also prevents landlords from renaming a fee to circumvent the proposed law.

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — An AutoZone and Belle Tire are set to join Club Carwash at the location of the former Rockford Speedway. The City of Loves Park announced AutoZone and Belle Tire would be moving onto Deery Drive, named after the family that owned the former Speedway. The track opened in 1948 and hosted mostly local races along with a few NASCAR events. Hugh and Jody Deery took ownership in 1966. After Hugh died, Jody ran it until she passed away in 2022, at the age of 97.
