ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The man accused of robbing an elderly woman in the parking lot of the Hard Rock Casino Rockford last November has been caught. Nicholas Williams, 40, of Madison, Wisconsin, is accused of robbing a 70-year-old woman of her purse around 11:35 a.m. on Thursday, November 21st, 2024. Photo: Winnebago County JailHe then fled to the I-90 exit, according to witnesses. Williams was booked into the Winnebago County Jail at 2 p.m. yesterday.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The City of Rockford announced Thursday it is expanding its efforts to proactively identify vacant properties. The City said it would be using a data integration and insights platform, called Tolemi, to track vacant and foreclosing properties to flag potentially vacant homes before they become a nuisance to neighbors and drag down property values.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois drivers: brace yourselves. The annual gas tax increase is about to kick in on July 1st, 2025. The automatic Motor Fuel Tax increases to account for inflation. Currently, Illinois residents pay the second-highest gas tax in the country, behind California. The gas tax is now 45 cents per gallon, but on July 1st it will go up to 48.3 cents per gallon.
