A juvenile suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking in Maywood on Thursday night, authorities said. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Maywood police were investigating the serious crash that happened around 5:30 p.m. on Maywood Avenue, between Taplin and Thoma avenues, said Jeff Angermeyer, deputy chief of detectives for the prosecutor's office. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

There will be a winter weather advisory overnight into Friday morning for parts of North Jersey. The National Weather Service warns that freezing rain could make roads and sidewalks very slippery and could impact the Friday morning commute.
