    Millions of Optus customers are unable to make calls, texts or connect to the internet after a major nationwide outage. The outage, which emerged about 4am, temporarily halted train services across Melbourne and has affected at least three major Melbourne health services. Optus customers in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth have all been affected. The nation’s second-biggest telco has more than 10 million customers.

    Commuters are facing a morning of pain after the entire Melbourne metro train network was stopped due to a communications outage. Early morning commuters turned up at train stations across Melbourne on Wednesday morning to be told trains were not running and it was not clear when replacement buses would be organised. The outage — which impacted every Metro line — came as the Optus network was downed in a major nationwide outage.
