NEAR OTTUMWA, Iowa — Two boys were hurt when they were ejected from an ATV during a weekend collision. The wreck happened just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 16000 block of 15th Street, southwest of Ottumwa. The Wapello County Sheriff's Office said two Ottumwa-area boys, ages 7 and 12, were riding an ATV when it pulled from a farm driveway and in front of a pickup truck. The pickup was driven by Louis Joseph Testa Jr., of Ottumwa.

LA GRANGE, Mo. — Two La Grange residents were injured very early Sunday morning when another SUV pulled out in front of their SUV. The crash happened at 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Highway 61, just south of La Grange. State troopers say an SUV driven by an unnamed 27-year-old man from La Grange was northbound on Highway 61 when a second SUV, driven by a 19-year-old Quincy, Illinois, man, pulled from 280th Street into their path, causing the collision. The 19-year-old was not hurt.

MACON, Mo. — A northeast Missouri man was hurt Friday afternoon when the piece of construction equipment he was operating tipped over. The incident happened at 3 p.m. on private property, three miles east of Macon on Route PP. Missouri state troopers say an unnamed 76-year-old Macon man was operating a skid loader to close to the edge of the Salt River. The vehicle started sliding and then overturned. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the man suffered minor injuries.

NEW CAMBRIA, Mo. — The story of an unusual sighting in northeast Missouri has a sad ending. An adult black bear had been spotted in Macon County a couple of days this week. One sighting was on Wednesday along Route T near Excello, Missouri. Unfortunately, on Thursday evening, the animal was hit by a pickup truck on Highway 36 near the Chariton River, three miles east of New Cambria. That happened around 7:45 p.m.Corporal Jared Kelly, the Macon County conservation agent, was called to the scene.

LINNEUS, Mo. — A northeast Missouri woman, whose underage son killed a woman in a 2022 head-on crash, has entered a plea in her case and decided not to go to trial. This week, Mary Marie Rouse, 42, of Unionville, Missouri, entered an Alford plea of guilty to accessory to second-degree involuntary manslaughter in the 2022 death of Holly Hydorn, 20, also of Unionville.
