The Sauk County Board will discuss the future of the county-owned nursing home in a special meeting Thursday, including possibly closing the facility, after a planned sale to a private buyer fell through last week. After the sale to a private buyer fell through last week, the Sauk County Health Care Center's future will be discussed at a special County Board meeting Thursday. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Sauk County West Square Building at 505 Broadway in Baraboo.

A crumbling street on Baraboo’s far north side is undergoing a full reconstruction that will last through the summer, and another is receiving more minor repairs. Together, the projects on Madison and Birch Streets will cost roughly $2 million. Gerke Excavating is contracted for both projects. Madison StreetMadison Street, which spans from East to Draper Streets and is the first intersection with Highway A heading south into the city from Wisconsin Dells, is being worked on in two segments.

The transportation service that was on the chopping block in Baraboo during the winter is off to a promising start in 2025. Taxicab rides and fare revenues have increased this year and were much higher than they were at the end of March in 2024, according to city taxicab service data. Most of the revenue increase has resulted from increased agency fares, or organizations that have purchased tickets for their clients.
