Attention — California Public Utilities Commission:On Nov.5–7, PG&E initiated a power shutdown in our area of Napa County — the west hills. The reason — there was a “wind event” coupled with low humidity that gave rise to increased fire danger. The week before we had rain, but evidently a risk of fire remained if a PG&E line broke. Fair enough. The problem is that when the power goes off, we have no Wi-Fi unless we run a generator.

Browning's Tahj Wells set the high mark for Browning wrestling, taking a 6-4 decision over Dylan Delorme of Columbia Falls for first place at 145 pounds at the Billings Metra last week. The win accompanied five Browning boy wrestlers who scored in the top eight in Class A competition. "We had a pretty great season with a super young team," Coach Casey McDonald said. "I feel like all the kids peaked at the right time and performed to the best of their abilities.

"NDN Wrestling had a great weekend!" exclaimed boys coach Casey McDonald of the Western A Divisional Tournament held in Hamilton last week. "We ended the weekend seventh as a team.""The girls fought hard all weekend and brought us home third place as a team," agreed girls coach Mike Burns. "I'm very proud of the girls and the way they performed."On the boys side, it was Tahj Wells taking first place at 145 pounds, followed by LaBron Shooter in second at 138.

It's always a surprise when a local high school senior receives the Winslow Nichols Leadership Award. Community members, teachers and other school staff, coaches and others annually nominate a high school student in Glacier, Pondera, Liberty or Toole County for the award. The award is named for one of the first winners, previously called the Today's Achievers, Tomorrow's Leaders Award, who won the award in 2020.
