After years of being pushed back, the deadline for having a Real ID is next week. It's not do or die, but if you live in Massachusetts and have summer travel plans, they could become more difficult. "There's a little bit of a panic out there, and I think some folks, maybe, are unnecessarily anxious about getting a Real ID right away," said Mark Schieldrop of AAA Northeast. The ID was created in response to 9/11 to improve security standards for identification.

The British are coming, and so are the crowds. Hundreds of people will be in Lexington, Massachusetts, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. The Battle of Lexington, the war's first major battle, will be reenacted with muskets and minutemen on Saturday. "We've been planning this for over seven years, and to have it all come together once at once is just really phenomenal," Lexington Select Board Chair Doug Lucente said Friday.

Opening statements in the Karen Read retrial are scheduled to begin next week after jury selection concluded Tuesday, but first there will be a motions hearing Wednesday in the case. Judge Beverly Cannone has already said there will be no court Thursday or Friday, meaning Wednesday's hearing to finalize any pending motions will be the last day before opening statements in Norfolk Superior Court.

Both sides of the Karen Read murder case will return to Norfolk Superior Court on Monday as the jury selection process continues - a day before opening statements are expected to begin. After taking Friday off, Monday will mark the ninth day of jury selection. So far, the court has seen 481 prospective jurors. Sixteen have been chosen to serve so far - but given the nature of this case, both sides want to add at least two more people. Eight men and eight women have been seated.
