The winner was exclusively revealed at Kelham Hall Beer and Cider Festival trade session yesterday in Newark, following a hard-fought final round of judging. The long-standing CAMRA award is one of the most coveted and well-respected cask beer prizes in the world, putting the winner firmly in both the national and international spotlight.

The annual ale trail, now in its 30th year, covered 100 pubs in and around the Manchester area, and, for the first time, pubs in Macclesfield were invited to join in. The Castle was voted best pub for mild ale, but that’s not all.
