Police said they executed warrants Thursday at 26 Florence Street and 38 Amity Street while investigating what they called an operation involving multiple illegal firearms and drugs.

Middletown, Conn./WTIC Radio - Middletown police have arrested a man in connection with alleged sexual assaults of children dating back more than a decade. Under arrest is Derrick Gaither, 59, of West Springfield, Massachusetts. Gaither is currently being held in connection with another arrest in Enfield. Middletown detectives said they developed probable cause after a "lengthy" investigation that determined the suspect had sexual contact with three minor aged children between 2011 and 2017.

Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - There are multiple reports that President Trump has granted former governor and WTIC afternoon host John Rowland a pardon. Rowland was one of several who received pardons on Wednesday. He was, at one time, considered a rising star in the Republican party in Connecticut. Elected governor three times, the 68-year-old resigned in the middle of his third term in 2004 when he got caught up in a corruption scandal.

Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - Waterbury police have made an arrest in connection with a mass shooting at a mall Tuesday afternoon. A total of five people, all adults, were wounded when shots rang out at the Brass Mill Center Mall on Union Street. They range in age from 20 to 26. Police say Tajuan Washington, 19, is charged. Officers say the shooting stemmed from a dispute between individuals who knew each other. Washington turned himself in Tuesday night.

Wallingford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The strike by Pratt and Whitney machinists against the company is over. On Tuesday, those with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers voted to accept a contract that runs through 2029. That puts an end to the walkout that began May 5th. The workers walked following a dispute over job security, wages and retirement benefits. They'll now see pay increases through the life of the deal.
