Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Waterbury man who says he was held captive for 20 years by his stepmother is speaking out for the first time. The now 32-year-old man, who goes by"S", says he has begun the process of "reclaiming my life."The man is being represented by the group Survivors Say. He says he deliberately set fire to the family home in February as a means of survival. The man weighed only 68 pounds when firefighters pulled him from the burning home on Blake Street.

Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A 17-year-old is dead and two juveniles are charged with murder in Hartford. Police say a little after 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, they responded to the area of Wethersfield Avenue and Baker Street on a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found the victim, Shevron Wilson, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police say they identified a suspect vehicle at Vine and Mather Streets.

Winsted, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police say a Winsted woman already facing animal cruelty charges has been hit with additional charges. Sarah Smolak, 28, turned herself in on Thursday on two additional warrants stemming from an ongoing investigation. She faces 36 additional counts on the two warrants. Smolak was arrested last month on animal cruelty charges after a raid on her home. She and David Reid were charged in the March case. Smolak is free on bond and due in court later this month.

Waterbury, Conn./ WTIC Radio - A woman is in critical condition and a man is under arrest following a shooting Thursday night in Waterbury. The call came in just before 11:00 p.m. on a reported assault at 210 Berkeley Avenue. A 44-year-old woman was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and is currently in critical but stable condition at an area hospital. Under arrest is John Irizary, 56, of Waterbury. Police say some type of domestic dispute led up to the shooting.

Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Waterbury have made an arrest in connection with a homicide investigation. They are charging city resident David Morkis, 36, following a five month investigation. Police say on November 23 of last year, Morkis and Paul Barillaro, 57, of Waterbury, were involved in an altercation. Barillaro's body was found in the rear of the Brass Mill Center Mall on Union Street. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled Barillaro's death a homicide.
