COLORADO SPRINGS – A reign has no fixed expiration date, as Bernhard Langer has demonstrated, but there comes a point when inevitability begins to assert itself. Has Langer reached this stage? There is no easy answer with Langer, ostensibly ageless, but indisputably aging. The U.S. Senior Open begins on the East Course at the Broadmoor here on Thursday, and Langer, 67, will be pursuing his third victory in this championship.

COLORADO SPRINGS – Golf at the elite level is star driven, of course, but occasionally, even refreshingly, the stars align to a degree that allows an interloper to take the stage alongside the headliners. Meet Tom Greller. An amateur golfer from the town of Newberg, about 40 miles southwest of Portland, in Oregon wine country, Greller, 53, who plays to a 0.6 handicap index at Newberg’s municipal course, is a medical device salesman for Microtransponder.

PGA Tour Alex Goodlett Keegan Bradley, a local favorite and the captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, came to the 18th hole needing a birdie and some help and received both to win the Travelers Championship for the second time in three years on Sunday. Trailing leader Tommy Fleetwood by one on the 18th at the TPC River Highlands, Bradley hit a perfect tee shot that was matched by Fleetwood.

It has been quite the journey for New Zealander Ryan Fox, whose career has played out on its own world tour, defined by victories on several continents in a variety of countries, on tours small and large. His latest addition to his trophy collection came Sunday via a playoff victory over Sam Burns in the RBC Canadian Open at the TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon, Ontario.

It is insufficient, if not inaccurate, to simply note that this loan arranger got back in the saddle, as it were, trying another run at professional golf, and cashing a $1.71 million check in Cowtown on Sunday. It is more complicated, indeed more unlikely, than that. No scriptwriter conceivably would have created this scenario.

I am a girl dad, who has purchased merchandise from @xx_xyathletics (and will do so again). This company and @Riley_Gaines_ and anyone with any common sense are on the correct side of this issue. Shame on @Simone_Biles. Yes, I'm angry.

Reading the Mark Twain bio by Ron Chernow, a 1200-page book. It's terrific, but I've been reading it for a couple of weeks now and I believe I'm only halfway through. Not sure which was longer, this book or his life. Still, great reading.
