News that President Donald Trump plans to reopen the notorious Alcatraz prison off the coast of San Francisco got my mind racing. As a child one of my favorite movies was Burt Lancaster's "Birdman of Alcatraz," and I was always fascinated by the notion of a prison for the worst offenders, a place that even housed the infamous Al Capone. Alcatraz was also known as a prison that no one escaped from.

The first 100 days of President Donald Trump's second term in office have been tumultuous to say the least with his emphasis on slashing federal government spending and raising tariffs on imports from other countries. The economic result thus far has not been great. The stock market has suffered losses snd this week it was announced that the economy output is shrinking.

It's rare that I'm still talking about a Christmas gift more than four months after unwrapping it. But, this year, my wife bought me one of those bird feeders with a camera attached. It allows me to watch birds via lifestream. It also automatically shoots video and still photos of birds that land on my front porch feeder.
