Spring is almost here. I can practically feel it quietly blossoming between the 25-degree overnight lows and the desperate last flurry of snowflakes coating my driveway this week. Until then, we’re feasting on 2025's early bounty of games ahead of some heavy hitters that will be rounding out the winter. Today, we got a better look at what people were playing last month. As has been something of a running theme, it was mostly old stuff, though it was also the season for it.

App Magic, a website that estimates mobile app earnings (via Mobilegamer.biz), claims the “free” card game has made over $20 million in its first week on sale from over five million downloads. The app has just launched its second in-game event, and likely the first one any players will have actually noticed: a series of battles that could win you coveted Lapras ex cards for your decks.

We are but mere days away from October, and that’s when the video game industry is going to start dropping some big games. Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are just a few of the big releases coming out next month. Luckily, things are a little less crowded now that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been pushed to February, but odds are you’re looking forward to at least some things coming out in the next few weeks.
