After nearly 50 years and dozens of national champions, the College of Idaho is dropping its skiing team as a varsity sport. Team members were told of the college's decision to drop the sport on both the men’s and women’s sides in a meeting with Athletic Director Reagan Rossi on May 1. “For it to be cut, it was really shocking to me,” said sophomore Caitlyn Bumpers, who earned All-American honors in Slalom and Skier Cross this past season.

In her first at-bat of the Boise State softball team’s season opener against Saint Mary’s on Feb. 7, Makenzie Butt struck out. As the freshman first baseman walked back to the dugout, Boise State coach Justin Shults pulled her aside and told her he noticed her nervousness as she stood at the plate. He told her that the first one was out of the way. Now, it was a matter of just going out and just playing softball.

After leading the Boise State football team to the College Football Playoff, Boise State coach Spencer Danielson is getting a pay raise. The Boise State women’s tennis team could not find magic for a second day in a row on Saturday, as the Broncos saw their run at the NCAA Tournament come to an end with a 4-0 loss to Texas in Austin, Texas. The No. 70 Broncos had extended their season an extra day on Friday with an upset victory against Baylor in the first round, but Boise State (20-6) wasn’t able to continue its magical season to next weekend’s Super Regionals.
