Ian Stuart MacWatt died at St Mary's Hospital, Newport, on May 19, aged 90, after a short illness. Born in London, he was the son of a model and actress, and served as a British Army colonel. He attended Wellington College and Oxford University, but chose not to study law — instead, forging a career in the RAF as a Russian linguist. Ian was among those who lined the streets for King George VI's funeral in 1952.
