Cleaning out the notebook and Notes app from smashing Roland Garros 2025. First, a reminder that if you want future columns sent directly, DM me your email. 1. Coco Gauff is the kind of global star whose triumphs trigger notes from former presidents. And, still, if her off-court awesomeness is there for all to see, her tennis remains underrated. That Opelka defeated Medvedev 7-6, 7-6 on grass is no great upset….that DM missed six straight serves - three 2x faults, including MP - in the second tiebreaker….that’s wild.

Point taken…wrote about this the other day. Would add that when a player (blessedly) is prone to speaking without filter, they should get a little more slack when they commit a rhetorical unforced error…
@jon_wertheim Jon, A point many American (pundits/fans) might miss is the fact Sabalenka, and other European athletes, often speak more directly than North American athletes. Learned this from watching Tour De France for last 20 years. Less cliches, more honesty. Lost in Translation perhaps?

Where to begin?….
