    The fault line between Prosper Portland’s board of commissioners and City Hall widened Friday, as commissioners for the economic development agency apologized to a departing leader who had upset a crop of newly elected City Council members. Shea Flaherty Betin, Prosper’s interim executive director since September, last month blasted a proposal by Councilors Mitch Green and Jamie Dunphy to cut all $11 million of Prosper’s general fund dollars from the upcoming fiscal year budget.

    The Portland City Council on Thursday voted to increase by millions of dollars a settlement with dozens of Black descendants of families whose Albina district homes were destroyed decades ago in a government urban renewal push. In a unanimous vote, the 12-member council agreed to pay the plaintiffs in a 2023 lawsuit a total of $8.5 million.

    The race to open a new concert venue in Portland reached a new stage Tuesday, when promoters announced they’ll break ground at the Lloyd Center mall in June. Portland-based Monqui Presents and global live events company AEG Presents are teaming to bring their 68,000-square-foot venue — with capacity for 2,000 to 4,250 concertgoers — to a former Nordstrom on Northeast Multnomah Street, penciling in their opening for the start of 2027.

    An Oregon nonprofit that investigates and litigates allegations of housing discrimination says it will halt its work in many cities, and may lay off staff, after the Trump administration cut off nearly $1 million in grants over three years. John Miller, executive director of the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, said his organization can no longer serve many larger cities without the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development dollars.
