It's the unfortunate result of a historic wildfire followed by heavy rain: debris from the Palisades Fire floating in patches in the ocean right off the coast of Malibu. Much of it is coming from the Big Rock area, which suffered mudslides during recent storms, carrying debris from burned properties along the shoreline directly into the water.

One of the most well-known spots that continues to propel talented comedians to the national stage is the Groundlings Theatre and School on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. He goes by the name Keni Arts and he's a whiz with watercolor. For years now, Keni has painted his longtime home of Altadena, finding beauty in the mundane, like the local post office or hardware store. "Altadena Hardware, some of the greatest people in the world," he said. These days, following the Eaton Fire, much of his favorite town is unrecognizable, and yet, he continues to paint what he sees - the charred remains of so many of his favorite local haunts.

Lithium-ion batteries are posing a hidden danger in the communities ravaged by the Palisades and Eaton fires. Chris Myers, the co-chair of the Environmental Protection Agency Lithium Ion Battery Emergency Response Task Force, is leading multiple teams in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena to find, collect and dispose of these batteries properly. "We have batteries at every single one of the properties," Myers said. "I have four on me right now, with my two cell phones and AirPods.

Three people who died in the Eaton Fire were remembered Thursday at a memorial service that also celebrated the resilience of a Southern California community. The service at the First AME Church of Pasadena offered a moment for a those bonded by tragedy to honor the lives of Erliene Kelley, 84, Evelyn McClendon, 59, and Rodney Nickerson, 82 and recognize the beloved community where they lived -- Altadena. Seventeen people were killed in the Eaton Fire.
