The Kitchener Rangers are down 2-0 in their playoff series against the London Knights after a 5-1 loss on Saturday. The Knights scored just 40 seconds into the game and although Carson Rehkopf tied the game later in the 1st period, the Knights cruised to the win from there. Kitchener went 0-for-6 on the power play, putting them at 0-for-10 on the man advantage in the series. Head Coach Jussi Ahokas said the team needs to improve in that area. The Kitchener Rangers are looking towards the future even as they continue their playoff series with the London Knights. The first three rounds of the OHL draft took place on Friday, and the Rangers made three selections. In the first round, they took Evan Headrick with the 15th overall pick. The centre is from Garden River, Ontario spent last season with the Oakville Rangers U16 AAA team scoring 21 goals and adding 28 assists in 31 games.

Five people are facing a combined 50 charges after a fraud investigation. Cars were stolen by people from the region who used stolen identity documents to get rental cars and did not return them. As the investigation continued, police found the suspects had also stolen cars from used-car dealerships. They used stolen identities when test-driving the cars and never returned. Nine cars were found by investigators.

A Guelph man was arrested after stabbing another man twice on Thursday. The stabbing happened around 11 p.m. on Gordon Street near Nottingham Street. Police found the victim and saw the suspect. After a short pursuit, the man was arrested with a knife in his pocket. Investigators determined that the two men knew each other and that they were involved in a verbal fight earlier in the day. The victim was taken to a Hamilton trauma centre due to injuries to his chest and abdomen.

A 69-year-old man from Guelph is facing several charges including attempted murder after attacking a woman on Wednesday. The incident happened around 11:45 a.m. in a driveway outside a home in the area of William Street and Cassino Avenue. The man struck the woman in the head with an object repeatedly. Other members of the house came outside to help and both were injured as well. Eventually, one of the people involved was able to restrain the man before the police arrived.
