AUSTIN, Texas — We've tracked heavy amounts of rain this past week, with some areas getting upwards of 9 inches of rain. With that, we've seen an improvement in our drought from this past week in Central Texas, with portions of the Coastal Plains dropping a level in the drought monitor, whether it be from "severe" to "moderate" drought, or from "moderate" drought to "abnormally dry" conditions.

AUSTIN, Texas — These past few days have been quite active to say the least. We have had multiple severe-warned storms across Central Texas, and we've even had two confirmed tornadoes in Central Texas, including Thursday evening's confirmed tornado in northeastern Burnet County and Tuesday's confirmed tornado in Milam County. The storms also brought impressive and beneficial rainfall totals across multiple sections of the KVUE area.

AUSTIN, Texas — While we have had beneficial rainfall earlier this week, we expect that to dwindle after Friday, even with storm chances being isolated to scattered at best. However, there could be another round of storms next week, meaning even more beneficial rain could be in the forecast. Here's a timeline of what we're tracking. After Friday's rain, storm chances dwindle for the weekend. As those storm chances drop, high temperatures will rise.

AUSTIN, Texas — While severe storms brought quite a bit of rain on Tuesday, especially east of I-35, we did not see that measured in the latest drought monitor. However, that means improvements should come pretty soon. Over the past week, our drought conditions worsened in the Coastal Plains, as many areas that were in the "moderate" drought fell to the "severe" drought category. Despite Tuesday's heavy rain, Fayette County fell to the "extreme" category.

AUSTIN, Texas — We're still tracking extreme to exceptional drought across Central Texas. While this past week has shown great progress in spots to alleviate the drought, we've got a ways to go to end it. Here's the latest. Progress Many areas in Central Texas received between 2 to 3 inches of rain from late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with most of the heaviest rain falling in the Coastal Plains.

If you're planning on starting your weekend at the @HEBCenter as the @TexasStars look to complete their sweep of the Griffins, it'll be a pleasant occasion with temps at puck drop near 80. #ATXWx #TXWx https://t.co/MxVY0WH6eP

While Camp Mabry has lost an inch and a half of progress towards the end of the drought in three months' time, this does not account for the most recent heavy rain in Central Texas. Thus, be prepared for the next updates to show marked improvements. #ATXWx #TXWx https://t.co/cEYWWKZavY

If you're wondering how much rain we've seen over these last few days, the answer is (for some places) A LOT. I'll break down in an article later today how this may help our drought situation. #ATXWx #TXWx https://t.co/zA0mO3JyTy
