Dear readers and subscribers, hello again. It’s been quite awhile. We never intended to be away from the newsletter this long, or away at all, really. Those of you who have followed us for awhile know Corruptario is a passion project. For the last few months, family and work issues have had us burning our candle at both ends, and in the middle too. Without any fanfare, and with little to no media coverage, Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx announced this week a new $255M contract to Strabag Inc. for work on the years delayed Eglinton Crosstown West Extension. This is the second large Ontario transit construction contract awarded to Strabag, despite there being sanctions on the Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, who holds a controlling interest in the company.

This week, the topic of discussion in federal politics is Jenni Byrne, one of Harper’s favourite soldiers and former principal secretary to Doug Ford. Byrne, who is also Pierre Poilievre’s chief advisor, owns a lobbying firm that works for Loblaws, called Jenni Byrne + Associates. Friends, with the LCBO strike happening, we wanted to update this story for you. It was published over six months ago, when we had fewer subscribers, and it's become timely again. We wrote this when the Ford government announced it would not be renewing the province's agreement with The Beer Store, which opened up 8500 new outlets (convenience stores, grocery stores, gas stations) to sell beer across the province.
