Last week in the Columbia Journalism Review, Bill Grueskin wrote about a disturbing case at Stanford University. While covering campus protests over Israel’s conduct of the war in Gaza, a student journalist for the Stanford Daily named Dilan Gohill was arrested along with members of Students Against Apartheid in Palestine who had illegally occupied a building. Gohill was not himself a protester, but a reporter doing his job.

A frequent question we ask ourselves at CBLDF is, “What are the coming trends in graphic novel challenges?” A trend we’ve followed for over a year, and we have discussed on our panels, is the creation of a system to rate books in public schools. While this may seem like a quick way to end the argument about what does and does not belong in our school libraries and classrooms, it has also raised several major issues.
