Uzan joined the Cougars prior to the season as a transfer from Oklahoma, replacing Big 12 Player of the Year Jamal Shead, at point guard. In his only season, Uzan averaged 11.4 points, 4.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds as UH finished as national runner-up. Uzan is currently projected as a mid- to-late second round pick. Draft Express was first to report Uzan's decision. Uzan could gauge his draft stock, not hire an agent, and still be eligible to return for his final season at UH.

"Don't sleep on Houston," Kelvin Sampson said after the Cougars' stunning comeback to beat Duke in the Final Four national semifinals. It was a reminder for those who may have just tuned in - or, simply, still did not fully believe. Just like that night, when the Cougars rallied from a six-point deficit in the final 33 seconds for arguably the biggest win in program history, what the Cougars accomplished during the 2024-25 season was nothing new.

University of Houston guard Terrance Arceneaux announced Thursday he plans to enter the transfer portal to "begin a new chapter in my college basketball journey."Arceneaux, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, successfully returned this season after missing most of the 2023-24 season with an Achilles tendon injury. As a key reserve off the bench, Arceneaux averaged 6.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 40 games as the Cougars reached the national championship game.

SAN ANTONIO — As the University of Houston locker room began to empty late Monday night following a 65-63 loss to Florida in the national championship game, Kellen Sampson took a moment to cast an eye on the future. "It's not a matter of if, it's when," Sampson, the Cougars' assistant coach and designated head coach-in-waiting, said after the Cougars came up short in their bid to deliver the school's first men's basketball title.
