A United Nations rapporteur has raised concerns on the Kenyan government's defiance of court orders on compensating the Ogiek, a forest-dwelling community who were evicted from the Mau Forest. In a communique, Mr Albert Barume, a UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous people, cautioned the Kenyan government over its continued non-compliance and disregard of the orders of the African Court on Human and People's rights issued in 2017 and 2022.

Julius Ogao Mogoi, 30, the man charged with the murder of his employer, former Treasury worker Tom Fred Mokaya Osinde, made a dramatic return to his rural home in Gucha, Kisii County, two years after vanishing without a trace. Mogoi left home in 2021 after running a modest boda boda business. When he returned in mid-2023, he presented himself as a wealthy businessman, driving a high-end Toyota Land Cruiser V8, a vehicle typically associated with government officials in Kenya.

What began as a routine missing person report by Zachary Wambugu has since escalated into a full-scale murder investigation, with the 23-year-old M-Pesa agent’s husband now the primary suspect in her death. Ms Waithera was reported missing from her workplace in Nakuru town on May 21, and her decomposing body was found dumped at Technology Farm in Nakuru West Sub-County seven days later.

The Environment and Land Court in Nakuru has issued temporary orders barring the government from entering, interfering with or taking over 10,000 acres of land belonging to the Lord Delamere family in Naivasha subcounty. In her orders, Justice Millicent Odeny restrained the Ministry of Lands, Public Works and Urban Development from entering, subdividing, taking possession of, alienating or interfering in any way with the land known as LR No 9362/7, which forms part of the Delamere Estate.
