A man was found dead in a garbage truck near a Long Island middle school Thursday morning, according to authorities. The truck was stopped outside William Rogers Middle School in Kings Park around 6:30 a.m. when someone spotted a man inside the truck’s trash receptacle, WABC reported. That man was pulled alive from the truck and quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a leg injury. However, a second man was also located in the truck, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Connecticut man was convicted Wednesday of killing one of his partners in a marijuana deal gone bad back in 2012. Melkuan Scott, 34, was found guilty of killing Serafin Velez in Hartford on Feb. 16 of that year, the Justice Department said in a press release. Scott was already in federal prison, where he had recently completed a 13-year sentence for running a drug trafficking operation in Connecticut.

A Connecticut man was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison for a dirt bike crash that killed the daughter of a former NBA player. Scott Whipple, 27, will be on probation for five years after serving the six-year term, the New Haven Register reported. If he violates the terms of his probation, he’ll have to serve four additional years. Whipple was driving a dirt bike with Tiara Wheeler on the back when he ran a red light in Groton and struck an SUV turning left on Aug.
