A former Royal Marine has appeared in court accused of ploughing into and injuring fans at a Liverpool football club Premier League victory parade. Paul Doyle, 53, looked shaken and tired as he appeared at Liverpool magistrates’ court on Friday charged with multiple offences including wounding and causing grievous bodily harm to six victims, including two children.

A 53-year-old white British man was arrested at the scene of the collision on Water Street in the heart of the city, metres from the Royal Liver Building and the town hall, after roads had been reopened following the main parade.
