CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Kris Letang, who turns 38 next week, has endured enough health ailments to make even the most hardened of doctors grimace. He's had two strokes, major neck surgery, life-altering migraines, concussions, broken bones, torn ligaments and many unknown injuries suffered during a hockey life well lived. The latest? Letang underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a hole in his heart - that hole that has long been believed to be at the foundation of his strokes.

I'm not here to discredit Alex Ovechkin. Far from it. He's a real, live rockstar. He broke an unbreakable record and did it in his entertaining, hyped-up way. It was marvelous. It was more of the same, with intermittent teases and Sidney Crosby's brilliance bowing to the reality that these Penguins, on paper, simply aren't good enough to contend for a championship, let alone a playoff berth in a weak Eastern Conference. So, what next?

PITTSBURGH - At least the Penguins may have helped their standing in the 2025 NHL Draft on Sunday. Other than that, there wasn't much to write home about. The Penguins went through the motions for most of Sunday and fell at home to the Boston Bruins 4-1 with a lackluster performance in their penultimate game of the season. Boston took a 3-0 lead in the second period and never looked back.
