    Draw up a checklist of ingredients you need for a fantasy blockbuster game and you’ll find Dragon Age: The Veilguard has them all. Dragons, demons, blood magic — tick, tick, tick. It’s still far from perfect, but shows flashes of brilliance in trying to spice up a genre that’s more bloated than an ogre with a belly full of grog. The story follows a pair of evil elven gods who are unleashed on the realm of Thedas after a ritual goes awry.

    The latest game set in the Harry Potter universe, after last year’s hit Hogwarts Legacy, does a stellar job of capturing just how wacky and enthralling JK Rowling’s fictional sport is. It is also at times a fiddly mess that makes casting a Patronus charm look simple. Early in my playthrough, I remembered why we haven’t had a standalone Quidditch title since 2003: it’s an unbelievably complicated game. Two teams of six compete to score points on broomsticks.
