FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A Fargo man was arrested late Tuesday night after barricading himself and two children inside an apartment. The Fargo Police Department says they were called to the 2600 Block of 14 St. S around 10 p.m. Police say it was reported that 33-year-old Santiago Resendez Jr. had made threats to a woman inside the apartment before she exited the building. Due to the circumstances Fargo Police called in the Red River Valley SWAT team to help bring Resendez Jr. into custody.

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (Valley News Live) - A Fergus Falls woman and several dogs have been displaced from their home after a fire Thursday afternoon. The Fergus Falls Fire department says they were called to the 700 Block of Riverside Ct. just after 1:00 p.m.When police and fire crews arrived they could see smoke coming from the attic and fire along the eaves of the home. When crews entered they found a woman sleeping inside unaware of the conditions. She along with several dogs were escorted out.

STATEWIDE, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Starting April 1 North Dakota anglers, hunters and trappers will need a new license. Licenses can be purchased on the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website. Once the license is processed, hunters and anglers will have the option to print a hard copy or download the license to a smart phone or mobile device, which is helpful when asked to show proof while hunting or fishing in rural areas that lack cellular service.

STATEWIDE (Valley News Live) - The National weather service has issued a Red Flag warning for several counties in North Dakota and Minnesota due to extreme fire risk conditions. The warning is in effect from 11:00 a.m. - 7 :00 p.m. in the following MN counties: Becker, Clay, Clearwater, Grant, Hubbard, Mahnomen, Norman, Otter Tail, Wadena, and Wilkin. Affected ND counties include: Griggs, Steele, Traill, Barnes, Cass, Ransom, Sargent and Richland, Dickey, Foster, LaMoure, Stutsman and Wells.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Metro Flood Diversion authority offered an update on the ongoing FM area diversion project. Officials say the last of eight large radial-arm gates for the FM Area Diversion’s three control structures is about to be lifted into place, marking a big milestone for the project. Excavation on the stormwater diversion channel also just passed 33 million cubic yards, which would be enough to fill the North Dakota Capitol building 409 times.
