WHAT IS THE CURRENT KNOWLEDGE ON THE TOPIC? An observational case–control study was conducted, including 157 patients and 50 healthy controls. Of the patients, 55 had acute myocardial infarction (AMI) without heart failure (HF; AMI−HF), 42 had AMI with HF (AMI+HF), and 60 had HF without AMI (HF−AMI). The high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is an active biochemical factor early started to increase in the blood of patients with AMI−HF and can be used as a biomarker of AMI−HF.
