A fountain in a popular Derbyshire park has been transformed into a colourful centrepiece – after being filled with flowers. A new fountain flowerbed has been created in Eastwood Park, Hasland and photographer Nick Rhodes has submitted this photo showing the beautiful display. After many years as a water fountain more recently it has been empty and fenced off.

The transformation of Chesterfield market is coming together quickly with some major milestones reached over the last month. Since starting work on the second phase of the Market Square in April, Thomas Bow the council’s contractor, have cleared the site, excavated below ground to install foundations for the new market stalls, benches, lights and other items, installed drainage, water pipes and electrical connections and have begun laying the feature paving and cobbles across the site.

Firefighters were called into action after a car engulfed in flames on a country lane in Derbyshire. At 5.30pm on Thursday, June 19, the crew from Shirebrook Fire Station were called to a vehicle fire on Hassocky Lane, Temple Normanton. Firefighters tackled the blaze for an hour and used one hose reel jet to extinguish it, leaving the scene at 6.37pm. It was a busy day for the crew who were on their way back from attending a wildfire at Black Ashop Moor near Snake Road, Bamford.

Residents gathered outside Derbyshire County Council on Monday to protest against Reform UK’s decision to scrap the climate change committee, following their takeover of the council. The climate change committee was responsible for monitoring the council's climate goals and targets but was axed by the authority’s new leadership earlier this month. Campaigners held placards and banners with images of flooding, wildfires and ruined crops during the protest in Matlock on Monday.
