    The largest US natural gas producer by volume assured investors today that the pace of US gas production is appropriate relative to demand, despite benchmark prices hitting fresh three-year lows this week. US gas storage being 10.6pc above the five-year average "is really just the result of a really warm El Niño winter," EQT chief financial officer Jeremy Knop said, referring to the weather pattern partly responsible for recent months being the warmest ever recorded.

In April a Louisiana district court judge ruled that Energy Transfer was within its rights to block DT Midstream from building a gas line that crossed Energy Transfer's own Tiger pipeline in northern Louisiana.

    Spot natural gas prices across the northeastern US on Monday surged to the highest levels in months ahead of the first widespread shot of cold weather this season. The Columbia Gas, Appalachia, index, a key indicator for the price of gas from the Marcellus shale in Pennsylvania and the surrounding states, on Monday more than doubled to $2.37/mmBtu, the highest since 2 March. Dailies at the Transco zone 6 New York index also more than doubled to $2.66/mmBtu, the highest since 13 March.
