Sale topper at 32,000gns was Idvies Pink Profit from the Fraser Family Ref: RH030225033 Rob Haining / The Scottish Farmer... Aberdeen Angus led the way at United Auctions’ Stirling Bull Sales taking both the lead average of £7727 and the top price of 32,000gns. The breed average took a lift of £1542 on the year with 66 bulls finding new homes. However, there were 16 fewer bulls sold and the clearance was 67%.

Bruce Goldie sold Goldies University for 14,500gns Ref: RH030225074 Rob Haining / The Scottish Farmer... Bruce Goldie, Townfoot, Dumfries, had a field day among the Limousins selling the top two highest priced bulls at 14,500gns and 13,000gns. In all, the sale saw 50 bulls sell to average £7333, down £133 on the year for eight more sold, with a 78% clearance.

Forbes Raeburn Butchers, Huntly, purchased both the champion and reserve lambs at United Auctions’ Christmas show and sale at Huntly, on Tuesday. Judge, W Cameron, Burnside of Edingight, found his champion in Texel crosses from Angus Greenlaw, Sheep Park Farms, Bridge of Marnoch, which scaled 53.6kg and realised £200. Reserve were Blue Texels weighing 48kg from the Irvine family at Braehead, Drummuir, which sold for £175. Overall, 861 lambs averaged 286p per kg.

Beltex from the Craig family, Rankinston Farm, secured the championship at Craig Wilson’s Christmas show and sale which later made £220 when selling to the judge, James Stark of MJ Stark Ltd, Bluebell. Reserve also went to Beltex lambs, this time consigned by the Young family, Tormitchell. They realised £200. David Kerr, South Corton, topped the Young Farmers section with Texel lambs that later sold for £180.
