    PALM SPRINGS — A death investigation is underway after human remains were discovered Thursday afternoon in the backyard of a home in Palm Springs. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has assumed controlled of the the investigation after receiving a request for assistance from the Palm Springs Police Department. According to a sheriff's statement, village police officers responded shortly before 3 p.m. June 19 after a resident reported finding remains in the 3900 block of Lakewood Road.
